Partnership with #GiveHealthy introduces a new way of donating fresh fruits, fresh vegetables and other healthy food!
[Somerset, NJ, September 10, 2024] — Each year, food drive support peaks during the September (Hunger Action Month) to November (Thanksgiving) timeframe. To take advantage of this, the Food Bank Network of Somerset County (FBNSC) has teamed up with #GiveHealthy to increase their food drive support by offering a new and easy way for organizations to conduct a food drive.
#GiveHealthy food drives can be set up in minutes and enable people to donate fresh fruits and vegetables in addition to non-perishable food items – making them a real game changer. “Fresh produce is often the first thing to disappear from the tables of food-insecure families,” said Steve Katz, the E.D. of FBN. “Through the GiveHealthy Food Drive support, we aim to bridge this gap and ensure that everyone has access to the nourishing, fresh foods they need to thrive.”
He continued: “The timing of our partnership is based upon the traditional food drive season as well as the increased focus on how important it is for people to eat healthy food. September is Hunger Action Month followed by October – Eat Better, Eat Together Month and National Eating Healthy Day in November. We believe that providing organizations an easy way to conduct food drives designed to raise healthy food will resonate with them.”

#Givehealthy drives make it easy for people to donate via a standard e-commerce purchase. Donated food will be delivered directly to FBNSC after a drive is over. There are no collection boxes and no worries about what food to donate, as all of the items available to donate are based upon FBNSC’s need.
#GiveHealthy drives are a good fit for all organizations, but particularly for organizations that operate virtually, hybrid or whose community is spread out.
“We’ve had a wide variety of organization sponsor #GiveHealthy drives to support their favorite food bank or pantry. From large companies like Johnson and Johnson, to health care organizations like the Yale New Haven Health System, to local companies, civic organizations and schools. We’re thrilled to partner with FBNSC to enable organizations in Somerset County to help those in need with healthy, fresh food,” said Patrick O’Neill, CEO of #GiveHealthy.
