We’ve all gotten to know about inflation over the past 3 to 6 months. The prices of just about everything we purchase has gone up and that includes food.
What does that mean for people struggling with food insecurity and the food banks and pantries that support them? Interrelated problems. At the same time that inflation is causing more people to need food assistance, the organizations that support them have to expend more resources for the same amount of food to distribute. For those organizations that don’t have more resources, it means they can’t meet the need.
