Welcome to the #GiveHealthy Blog!
Each month, we share updates, insights, and tools to help food banks and pantries tackle hunger more effectively. Our digital food drive system is designed to remove traditional challenges, match donations to real needs, and strengthen donor relationships. Because hunger is a health issue, we focus on providing smarter tools for greater impact.
Introducing the New #GiveHealthy Marketing Kit
This month, we’re thrilled to announce the upcoming release of the #GiveHealthy Marketing Kit, designed to support our Food Bank and Pantry partners who have completed onboarding.
The Kit includes:
- A full stack of marketing content
- Planning elements to help organizations maximize Fall/Holiday 2025 food drive support
- Best practices for introducing the #GiveHealthy food drive option
We are actively onboarding organizations nationwide—from New England to Florida, Las Vegas, California, and even Hawaii—and scheduling meetings to review Kit content and action items. With cuts to federal support (more below), food banks are looking for every way to maximize donations and impact this season.
Current News: Rising Hunger Challenges in the U.S.
Millions More Americans Could Rely on Food Banks
A recent Politico report warns that proposed $1 trillion cuts to SNAP and Medicaid could force millions of Americans to turn to food banks already struggling to meet demand. These reductions may eliminate up to 9 billion meals annually—equivalent to all meals distributed by Feeding America last year. States and nonprofits are stepping in, but food banks may need to double their operations by late 2025 to keep up. (Politico, 4 min read)
Food Insecurity on the Rise
Demand at some food banks has increased over 100%, as new federal policies impose stricter work requirements and shift costs to states. Experts warn these changes could push millions more families into hunger. (Axios, 5 min read)
California’s Surplus-Food Law: A Mixed Impact
California’s SB 1383 mandates that edible food from large generators, like supermarkets and restaurants, be donated. While this boosts nutritious food donations, many food banks face spoiled or unwanted items and additional logistical challenges. Half of the food banks report insufficient funding or infrastructure to manage the increased volume. (Food Bank News, 3 min read)
#GiveHealthy Spotlight: Aloha Harvest
We’re proud to spotlight Aloha Harvest in Hawaii, who set up their #GiveHealthy system last month and already launched five new food drives.
Executive Director Mele Pepa Latu shares:
“We are excited to be part of #GiveHealthy this year! I agree 100% that donors prefer to donate fresh fruits and vegetables and it’s always a top request from our recipient agencies.”
Aloha Harvest exemplifies how digital food drives can streamline donations, meet real needs, and bring fresh, healthy food to communities.
Looking Ahead
As federal support changes and hunger challenges grow, #GiveHealthy is committed to helping food banks and pantries make the most of every donation. From smarter digital tools to marketing resources and community spotlights, we’re here to strengthen the connection between donors and those in need.
