We’re smack in the middle of Hunger Action Month, the kick-off of the busy Fall-Holiday Food Drive season.
We’ve highlighted some of the #GiveHealthy activity below, but before getting to that, we want to add our voice to the chorus pointing out the state of food insecurity in the United States these days. It’s dire. There are more people relying on food assistance now than at any point in time in our country’s history. How important are the food banks, pantries, soup kitchens and shelters? The CEO of Feeding America was just named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of 2020.
There are lots of ways to divide the world. For us, one way is to divide it into the people that need food assistance and those that don’t. We hope that those that don’t will help those that do. Whether that’s supporting a hunger relief organization by donating food, money or time, or helping someone directly in need – by making a meal, buying one or asking them how they could be helped the best way.
It’s been great to see the growing number of organizations sponsoring #GiveHealthy drives and great to see the diversity of the organizations helping. One of our favorite jobs is ensuring all of the food that an organization raises gets to where it needs to be.
