#GiveHealthy is a movement to change the most common form of giving in the United States – donating food to help people who face hunger so that people donate healthy food.
The #GiveHealthy Movement launched in May 2017 at the Broccoli City Festival. The Movement will continue until everyone donates healthy food.
Lots of great organizations and people focused on getting people facing hunger the kind of food they really need. Founding partners include Wholesome Wave, Why Hunger, Food Tank and Ashley Koff, R.D., Other partners include the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (Center for a Livable Future) and the NYC Food Policy Center at Hunter College. #GiveHealth also has a terrific Board of Advisors with some of the leading voices in the areas of hunger, nutrition and health.
People struggling with hunger also face high rates of diet related health issues – obesity, diabetes, hypertension and more. #GiveHealthy is designed to get people facing hunger the kind of food they really need.
#GiveHealthy is using Amp Your Good’s #GiveHealthy Digital Food Drive Platform to run the drive. People donate by making an online purchase of specific healthy food items for the purpose of donating them to a #GiveHealthy approved hunger organization. The food will be delivered to selected food banks or pantries after the drive over.
Contact us to let us know if you would like to be eligible for healthy food donations. You can also sponsor your own #GiveHealthy food drive to provide a way for your own community to donate healthy food to you. If there are groups planning food drives this year, let them know they can run a #GiveHealthy drive for you and be part of healthiest food drive in the country.
Any kind of group as well as individuals can sponsor a #GiveHealthy drive and raise healthy food for the hunger organization they want to support. The only restriction is age. If you are an individual, you must be at least 13 years old to use our website. If you are too young, ask a parent or guardian to help you out.
The food will be delivered 2 to 3 weeks after the drive is over.
Once #GiveHealthy is over, we will supply donation information to the hunger organization that received your food donation – your name, your email address and what you have donated.
All donors and their donations are listed on the drive page. You can indicate during the checkout process that you want your donation to be “anonymous”. Instead of showing your name, the drive page will show the donation “made by a Generous donor”. The food bank or pantry will, however, be able to know your name through the order information.
